Hell Yes, Beer Makes It Better!

The ABGB’s guiding philosophy is “Beer Makes It Better!” We believe that our beer has the power to make The Austin Community better. The Hell Yes Project is our way of putting this philosophy into action! The ABGB partners with local non-profits which share our passions: Dogs, bikes, nature and people! Through The Hell Yes Project, we commit 10% of yearly profits to these and other worthy causes.

We also promote volunteerism in our community! Our Hell Yes Project Volunteers help clean Barton Springs Pool, organize at APA! Thrift on Oltorf, sort food at Central Texas Food Bank and, beautify areas around The ABGB via Keep Austin Beautiful! Learn more about how to get involved and, check out our project partners below!

Our Hell Yes Project Partners

These awesome people are near and dear to our hearts. We say “Hell Yes” to all they do to make Austin a better place to live.

Austin Pets Alive!

Promotes and provides the resources, education and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals by developing comprehensive, innovative programs that targets key groups of animals and pulling directly from euthanasia lists. They saved thousands and thousands of dogs and cats since 2008.
In addition to hosting adoption events here with them, we brew a beer on a regular basis for them! It’s an American Pale Ale that features a different variety of American Hop in each batch. $1 of every pint sold of the beer goes to benefit APA!, and specifically, their Long Stay Dogs.

Friends Of Barton Springs Pool

The Friends of Barton Springs Pool creates a community of people dedicated to restoring, improving and maintaining the pool and surrounding grounds through organizing, advocacy, volunteer work, education and fun.
We jump into to help with monthly pool cleanings and in 2015 organized the largest pool jump ever into Barton Springs Pool to help shine a lot on their efforts. Over 1200 people jumped into the pool at once!

Ghisallo Foundation

Their primary mission is to develop youth who safely and expertly integrate bicycling into their daily lives, to teach participants self-sufficient cycling skills, and to facilitate the experience needed for youth cyclists to be peer leaders.
We have a lot of fun with these folks. Bike rides to Barton Springs Pool, bike rides to the fireworks on the 4th of July, and during the Winter holidays, we’ve hosted Build-A-Bikes where folks come eat pizza, drink beer, and put together a bike for a deserving kid. To date, over 50 deserving kids have received a great new bike at the holidays through this program.

Save Our Springs Alliance

The Save Our Springs Alliance works to protect the Edwards Aquifer, its springs and contributing streams, and the natural and cultural heritage of the Hill Country region and its watersheds, with special emphasis on Barton Springs.
You’ll find their table out in front at some of our events, our beer at some of their events, and look for a party here with them this Summer!

The SIMS Foundation

The SIMS Foundation is a local non-profit that assists our music community with mental health & recovery support.
We hosted a party here in January that featured an all-star cast of Austin musicians (White Denim, Shinyribs) celebrating the life and music of David Bowie. It raised over $2.6K!

Aids Services of Austin

The mission of AIDS Services of Austin is to enhance the health and well-being of the community and people affected by HIV and AIDS.
We throw a great big party for them on “Freddie For A Day” every year that celebrates Freddie Mercury. It’s also a registration kickoff for Austin’s Aids Walk and shirts from past events have become collectors items. Always one of the best parties of the year!

Austin Habitat For Humanity

Austin Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to ending the cycle of poverty housing and the deeply held belief that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live.
We spent a day building a house, played games of Stumpf, hosted a dunk tank of Austin’s best brewers, supported a Christmas musical, and raised more than $8,000 to help build a house for a deserving family from Morocco.

Foundation Communities

Foundation Communities creates housing where families succeed. They provide people with an affordable, attractive place to call home as well as opportunities right at their doorstep to transform their lives.
We’ve have had a lot of fun bringing pizza parties to kids in South Austin to reward them for their participation in the after-school program. We’ve got some great things in the works with them for 2018.

Health Alliance for Austin Musicians

Provides access to affordable health care for Austin’s low-income, uninsured working musicians, with a focus on prevention and wellness.
We have hosted several musical showcases for them and have also been lucky to have hosted their HAAM Day closing party for the last couple of years!

Central Texas Food Bank

Bigger than Massachusetts! That’s the area that Central Texas Food Bank covers, bringing more than 45 million meals to its community last year and into the hands of families and local nonprofits.  The ABGB, teams up with the Central Texas Food Bank on the last Tuesday of the month for an evening of volunteering at the Food Bank’s warehouse. And, after a shift of putting your hands, heart and soul to work, you can enjoy the satisfying taste of a cold ABGB beer. We call it Volunbeer Night, and we want you and your crew to join us.

Volunteer Healthcare Clinic

Volunteer Healthcare Clinic’s mission is to improve the health of the uninsured and the working poor by providing access to high quality health care and prevention education. They want to help create and sustain a healthy community where all people, especially the indigent, have access to quality health care and personal well-being.  The ABGB has has partnered with them on a benefit called Tuned To Health with Black Joe Lewis: A Musical Celebration Benefiting VHC! The event helped raise $15,000 dollars for VHC programs and services.
